Natural Parks of the Valencian Community

The Valencian Community has an extensive network of Protected Natural Spaces (ENP) composed by different environmental protection figures, among which are all natural parks (22), a nature reserve, protected landscapes (4) and a natural monument.

The management of this entire network is carried out centrally by a team of coordinators and, at the same time, each ENP is managed by management teams who constantly carry out improvement projects.

Disaggregated data

To carry out and inform about their work, the centers had very heterogeneous technological tools. There was a serious problem of miscommunication, heterogeneity in the solutions and integration of information. Faced with this situation, the need to integrate into a single virtual space all the information coming from the Spaces so that it could be shared among all was raised.

Single collaborative workspace

SharePoint was the technology chosen to create the Collaborative Portal of Protected Natural Spaces of the Valencian Community. This portal is, in fact, an intranet which is accessed once the user has authenticated on the network of the “Conselleria”, but also a specific portal for each ENP, which becomes the exclusive tool that integrates all the work of the managers and the technicians.

Smooth information flow

One of the most important benefits that we achieved was the improvement of communication in every way. No less important and in relation to this improvement, we also achieved sharing of knowledge. Now, each manager can see at all times the projects that are being carried out in other spaces, so that in addition to sharing knowledge, it is also possible to share procedures and ideas. All this contributes to improving productivity and the management of all natural spaces. In addition, no one has had to learn the operation of the new tools, which reduces implementation costs.
